About the opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Medical Sciences within the Tasmanian School of Medicine.

This position will focus on the delivery of high‑quality medical education, including teaching foundational medical sciences across a variety of disciplines and using online and on‑campus learning modalities. This position will support the supply of a skilled medical workforce to Tasmania.

What you’ll do:

- Undertake high quality and scholarly undergraduate teaching across the medical sciences that are fundamental to the study of medicine

- Mentor and support rural students both at an individual and peer group level to succeed in their rural medical training pathway.

- Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally.

- Seek out and engage in opportunities to continuously improve academic learning and teaching skills.

- Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.

What we’re looking for:

- A PhD or equivalent in a relevant medical sciences discipline or equivalent to a postgraduate qualification.

- Experience in undergraduate University‑level teaching and learning.

- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with staff, students and external organisations.

- High‑level organiser skills including experience adhering to safe operating procedures.

- Demonstrated initiative coupled with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155,885 comprising base salary within the range of $114,766 to $133,235 plus 17% superannuation.
