Shape smarter project outcomes in the energy sector

We’re seeking a sharp and solutions-focused Project Controls Engineer to join a high-performing infrastructure team on a major energy project in the Surat Basin. This is a FIFO opportunity operating on a 14:7 roster, offering hands-on involvement in critical delivery and genuine scope to make your mark.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, this role is responsible for the timely and accurate tracking of performance metrics, progress reporting, and providing key insights that drive project outcomes. If you're someone who thrives on clarity, data-driven decision-making, and building smart systems that make complex things simple — this could be your next big move.

Overview

Responsibilities

- Tracking, monitoring and reporting against key project KPIs

- Building and maintaining detailed schedules in Primavera and MS Project

- Developing and interpreting visual dashboards in Power BI

- Analysing performance metrics (CPI, SPI, PF) to forecast trends and recommend solutions

- Producing high-quality daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports

- Participating in internal and external stakeholder meetings, including commercial, programme, and construction planning

- Identifying scope impacts and delay risks early and proactively managing reporting and communication

- Building streamlined reporting systems, documents, and databases to support current and future project phases

Qualifications

- A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline

- 4+ years’ experience in project controls within a construction, energy or infrastructure setting

- Strong skills in Primavera P6, MS Project and advanced Excel

- Proficiency in Power BI, Synchro, and an ability to automate or optimise reporting

- Confidence interfacing with stakeholders at all levels — from engineers to execs

- A process-driven mindset with strong attention to detail and commercial awareness

What’s on offer

- FIFO 14:7 roster from Brisbane

- Opportunities to grow into senior project controls or broader commercial roles

- Supportive leadership that values innovation, accountability, and practical solutions
