Discover life-giving possibilities
Lifeblood is more than just a job or a career, it’s an opportunity to be part of something that matters. As an organisation, our purpose is simple: life giving donations, for life changing outcomes. Together, we want to help you build a fulfilling career with Lifeblood.
About the role
Step into a rewarding role as a Nursing Assistant where you will bring excellent customer-facing skills and a genuine passion to deliver an exceptional service to our donors.
You will play a key role in supporting our donors through their donation process. Full training is provided so, along with the above, all you need is the curiosity and motivation to learn the process of collecting blood and biological product.
A day in the centre could see you:
- Greet and interview potential donors to assess their eligibility and suitability to donate
- Create a donor experience they’ll love and want to come back
- Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
- Set up machines and collections equipment
- Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood and plasma
- Monitor donors post-donation and assist them with rebooking their next donation
- Work collaboratively to achieve collection targets
No prior experience in blood collection is needed, our paid and flexible self-paced training program has a balance between on-the-job practice, and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported.
Besides having a real passion to deliver an exceptional donor experience, you’ll need to be able to:
- Be comfortable with needles and blood/biological materials
- Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs
- Support and foster a fantastic team culture
- Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
- Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday, including weekends and afternoon shifts
- Capacity to work 49 hours minimum per fortnight (additional shifts may be provided)
Benefits and Wellbeing
We place our employee's well-being at the forefront and express gratitude and care for one another. As an Australian Workplace Equality Index recognised employer and one of Australia’s menopause-friendly organisations, we celebrate diversity and support all our people.
In addition to being a part of an organisation that is the heartbeat of the nation, you will have access to the following:
- Minimum 5 weeks annual leave (up to 6 weeks)
- Access to salary packaging with an option to package up to $15,900 for living expenses and $2,650 for meals and entertainment
- 14 weeks paid parental leave - no waiting period for either parent
- Our dedicated employee assistance program - Sonder that you can access 24/7 from an app on your phone
- Plus, many more
We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates. We are committed to providing a workplace that is free from discrimination and harassment.
