What We Need: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Camera Operator with a minimum of 3-5 years in the industry to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for a creative professional who thrives in both production and post-production environments, and is committed to creating compelling, high-quality content that resonates with audiences. You'll be working with The West Australian Newspaper's award-winning digital production team of producers, reporters and editors on daily and long form content for our various digital and social channels.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate cameras and select appropriate accessories based on production requirements.
- Make informed lighting choices and contribute to overall set design.
- Set up and manage on-location and studio audio recording.
- Assist with post-production workflow when required.
- Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and crew to meet production goals efficiently.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to both video and audio equipment.

What You Bring:

- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience operating cameras in professional settings.
- Strong understanding of camera systems, lighting, set design, audio recording techniques, and post-production workflows.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to adapt to shifting production needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with Sony FX series cameras.
- Proficiency with editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro) and motion graphics tools (e.g., After Effects).
- Familiarity with content production specifically for social media and YouTube.
- Familiarity with video podcast production tools and processes.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
