The Hotel

Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns. With 255 guest rooms, 18 function venues and extensive food and beverage facilities, the hotel is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Perform general maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and more, primarily in guest rooms and Front of House areas.

- Clean and maintain ventilation equipment, including air conditioning coils, ducting, filters, and air handling units.

- Support the Shift Engineer and other tradespeople such as painters, electricians, and carpenters.

- Conduct preventative maintenance in guest rooms and on assigned equipment, following the maintenance schedule.

- Prepare daily reports to track tasks, hours, and materials used.

- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of plant rooms and Engineering spaces.

- Ensure the security and proper use of tools, parts, and consumables under your charge.

- Previous experience as a Handyperson in a similar-scale five-star hotel or hospitality setting.

- A can-do attitude with a willingness to assist the Engineering team.

- Knowledge of correct manual handling techniques.

- Full availability to work on a 7-day rotating roster.
