Mind Australia is one of the country’s leading community-managed specialist mental health service providers with a range of residential, mobile outreach, centre based and online services. We have been supporting people living with the day-to-day impacts of mental illness, as well as their families, friends and carers for over 40 years.

About Havens
The Haven Foundation, social housing with support, offers people their own home in a unique community environment. Haven residences are built for people living with mental health challenges who want somewhere to live where they can access specialist mental health support. With stable, medium to long-term housing, residents benefit from a safe and inclusive environment that fosters personal growth empowering residents to develop daily living skills and transition into mainstream housing with greater independence.

- Reduced hospital admissions for both psychiatric and physical health concerns
- Increased social inclusion through thoughtful, community-oriented design
- Lower reliance on public mental health services and stronger engagement with GPs

About the opportunities
Working in collaboration with clients, families and carers, Mind staff build high quality, tailored programs to suit individual needs and NDIS goal plans. We are opening brand new services in Traralgon and Wonthaggi who are seeking early expressions of interest for the following roles:
- Mental Health Support Worker - Support clients to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
- Mental Health Support Worker (Casual) – Provide casual support to clients in their journey to reintegrate into the community, live independently, and lead a meaningful life through a step-by-step recovery process.
An employment seminar is scheduled to take place in late October / early November. This session will be highly informative and beneficial for those interested in attending, offering valuable insights and guidance relevant to prospective applicants. Once the date is confirmed, further details will be communicated directly to all applicants.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field as designated by Mind.
- Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
- Ability to provide information and mentoring to build capability, establish social relationships, create community networks and access to relevant services.
- Understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
