POSITION OVERVIEW
As Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, you will be responsible for delivering consistent, impactful messaging to Hickory’s key stakeholders through strategic marketing, advertising, events, and communications. You will ensure all messaging is on brand, aligned with Hickory’s strategic objectives, and enhances the company’s reputation. This role will manage public and media perception, proactively promoting positive media and mitigating any negative coverage. You will lead stakeholder engagement initiatives to ensure a deep understanding of client and partner needs, helping Hickory deliver value across all touchpoints. In collaboration with the HR and Executive teams, you will also champion and evolve Hickory’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP), positioning Hickory as an employer of choice.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development and execution of Hickory’s communications and marketing strategy aligned with our corporate vision and values.
- Craft and oversee consistent messaging across all internal and external platforms, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
- Drive employee engagement through clear, purposeful communication, supporting change initiatives, cultural alignment, and the employee value proposition.
- Manage public relations, media relations, and executive profiling to build brand reputation and respond to emerging issues.
- Oversee the creation and quality of content including digital, print, signage, social media, presentations, and uniforms, maintaining brand standards.
- Lead planning and execution of strategic and corporate events, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder engagement.
- Maintain and optimise communication tools, technologies, and digital channels for impact and consistency.
- Support business units with marketing and branding needs, ensuring alignment with broader strategy.
- Provide regular reporting on engagement metrics, campaign effectiveness, and media presence, and manage the communications budget.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience (8+ years) in a senior communications, marketing, or corporate affairs role, ideally within a complex or fast-paced organisation.
- Strong strategic thinking and storytelling skills with a proven ability to influence at senior levels.
- Demonstrated success in managing internal and external communications, media relations, and brand strategy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Experience managing budgets, digital platforms, and communication technologies.
- Ability to lead a team and collaborate effectively across diverse business units.
- High level of initiative, adaptability, and a hands-on approach to problem solving.
