▷ (Urgent) Data and Visualization Analyst

Job Overview

The purpose of this role is to provide analytical and visual data design support to the Retail business. Working right across the retail business unit, the role has the key function of understanding the data and visual representation needs of the Retail business units and designing solutions to support these needs – including the key sales, marketing, and operational performance data of the business.

Working with the Data Engineer, the role will also contribute to the health of the operational data, and to develop ongoing improvement for the housing, mining and reporting of key operational data.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Act as key data and visualization interface across the retail function
- Reviewing and analysing data as it pertains to the retail function
- Developing the necessary visual reports to support the commercial needs and operations of the retail function
- Build and maintain data models to support the needs of the business
- Working with the Strategy and Solutions team, play a key role in recommending optimal reporting tools, and be the business ‘owner’ for them ongoing.
- Develop insights from data that underpin the Retail (and from time-to-time broader PB) function performance, including but not limited to:

- Sales performance

- Marketing leads

- Operational performance (credit, service, billing etc)

- Technology and digital data (such as retail system and website reporting)

- Budgeting and Planning

- Annual plans, and 5-year strategies

- Developing and maintaining tools and visual reporting that facilitate optimised retail decision making as well as supporting optimal business performance.
- Ensure that the Company’s compliance obligations are actively maintained, managed, and kept up to date with particular focus on cyber security and data protection and the compliance obligations allocated to the position title as identified in the Company’s Register of Compliance Obligations (as set out in the Compliance Procedure and as amended from time to time).
- Working in a small team and being prepared to undertake a wide range of activities and tasks, both simple and complex
- Achievement of excellent analysis and model development in an environment that includes a range of IT systems and processes. The incumbent will need to deal with IT issues, patchy data or changing requirements.
- Strong initiative required to identify and implement priority tasks to maintain performance on a mix of ad hoc and ongoing tasks.

Knowledge, experience (including qualification) and skill

Knowledge and experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in data analysis, visualization, and reporting within the energy sector or a related industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on data accuracy and quality.

Skills:

- Numeracy, including a sound grasp of the concepts of statistics and probability
- Ability to convey complex analytical requirements, results and insights clearly
- Skills in design, construction and operation of appropriate models to provide the insight required
- Competence with SQL query writing and interrogation of SQL Server databases
- Competency with PowerBI
- Ability to work without close supervision and self-motivated through discovery and learning
- Programming skills: SQL, VBA, MATLAB, or some other programming language highly regarded
