Bookshop Assistant – Central Catholic Bookshop

Approx. 4 shifts per fortnight | Includes 1 weekend & 1 weekday shift

Are you passionate about books, customer service, and working in a welcoming, faith-based environment? The Central Catholic Bookshop, located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD next to St. Francis Church, is seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Casual Bookshop Assistant to join our team.

As part of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne, our bookshop offers a unique opportunity to work in a meaningful setting that supports the spiritual and intellectual life of our community.

What You Will Do:

- Deliver warm, attentive customer service in person, over the phone, and via email
- Assist with the receipt, display, and sale of goods
- Process payments securely using Circlesoft Software
- Take and manage customer and stakeholder orders (in-store, online, and by phone)
- Pack and dispatch online and telephone orders efficiently
- Order stock and assist with inventory management
- Support the Bookshop Manager and Retail Accounts Assistant with sales and operations
- Open and close the shop as required, following security procedures

What We’re Looking For:

- A genuine interest in books and motivation to work within a Catholic environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability and flexibility to work approx. 4 shifts per fortnight (including weekends)
- Previous retail / customer focused experience
- Comfortable using point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications
