The Preschool is recruiting a full-time permanent role as “professeur des écoles” (teacher). In this role, you will play a key part in nurturing the development and learning of our students aged 3 to 5 through engaging, play-based bilingual educational programs within a progressive immersion program in French, based on the French preschool curriculum and the EYLF.

The French-Australian Preschool is an accredited long day care operating under Australian Early Childhood Law and Regulations, managed by a board of parents. The French-Australian Preschool is officially recognised by the French government (homologuée). It is located in Canberra.

Qualifications and skills

The successful candidate will
• Have a French professeur des écoles degree ;
• Demonstrate experience and excellent knowledge of the French education system, particularly the preschool level;
• Be a French native speaker and have excellent written and spoken English skills;
• Have excellent teamwork skills, be flexible, hardworking and open-minded;
• Have great listening and communication skills;
• Demonstrate experience in team leading;
• Demonstrate experience and ability to maintain partnership with families;
• Demonstrate readiness to work with a double curriculum within Australian regulations.
• Enrol in Australian Early Childhood Qualification within 3 months their employment.
Duties will include
• Planning and delivering of age-appropriate high quality French immersion educational programs based on the EYLF and French preschool curriculum during school terms
• Working collaboratively with educators and families to develop individual goals for each child as well strategies to scaffold the children’s development to reach these goals
• Observing and documenting children's progress, and communicating with families about their child's development
• Providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children to learn and thrive
• Collaborating with the teaching team and various educators to ensure a cohesive and consistent approach to early childhood education and an appropriate sharing of tasks throughout the daily routines
• Upholding high standards of childcare and adhering to all relevant policies and regulations
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of the preschool's programs, practices and policies


Conditions
The French Australian Preschool offers above award remuneration and a generous leave package as per the French-Australian Preschool Enterprise Agreement 2023: French teacher (between $74,482.50/an et $114,484.23/year), 20 days of annual leave per year, stand down during School Holidays,15 day of sick/personal leave per year.
