Commis Chef | Melton

We are looking for a motivated and passionate Casual Commis Chef to join the PLG team at the Golden Fleece Hotel in Melton. You’ll focus on basic food preparation tasks, support experienced chefs, and maintain a clean and organised kitchen. This opportunity is ideal for kitchen professionals ready to kickstart their career

The Golden Fleece Hotel is a favourite local spot, featuring modern facilities, a family‑friendly bistro, and indoor & outdoor dining areas. An extensive modern menu with daily specials caters to children and adults alike.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook menu items according to cooking guidelines and set standards.

- Support senior chefs and kitchen staff with food assembly, plating, and general kitchen duties.

- Ensure food safety procedures are followed.

- Maintain control and leadership in your assigned kitchen section during service times.

- Keep the workstation clean and organised.

The role is fast‑paced and may require lifting boxes, kegs or stock, standing for long periods, and using stairs.

Qualifications

- Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).

- Food Handlers Certificate.

- Experience working in a pub/bistro or fast‑paced kitchen environment.

- Understanding of fundamental cooking methods and recipe execution.

- Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
