Overview

We are looking for a motivated and passionate Casual Commis Chef to join the PLG team at Glasshouse in Caulfield. You’ll focus on basic food preparation tasks, support experienced chefs, and maintain a clean and organised kitchen. This opportunity is ideal for kitchen professionals ready to kickstart their career

Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook menu as per cooking guidelines and set standards.
- Support senior chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks, including food assembly and plating.
- Ensure food and safety procedures are being followed.
- Maintaining control and leadership in the kitchen during service times in allocated section.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workstation.

The role you are applying for may be quite fast-paced and require you to complete tasks including but not limited to lifting boxes, kegs or stock, standing for long periods of time, and utilising stairs.

Qualifications

- Hold a Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
- Food Handlers Certificate
- Experience working in a pub/bistro fast-paced environment
- Understanding of fundamental cooking methods and recipe execution
- Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
