About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Operations - Inner Harbour, the role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, safety and efficiency of the day-to-day cargo operations and landside activities.

Key duties include:

- Plan and coordinate the allocation of cargo and laydown areas shipping to common user berths ensuring operational efficiencies are maximised.
- Coordinate the Fremantle Passenger Terminal and other facilities where cruise vessels berth, including the daily operations with oversight of the visit, operational requirements (including Cruise & Naval ships).
- Develop a fit for purpose protocol for managing potential conflicts between cargo operation requirements and Passenger Terminal utilisation.
- Manage logistics issues including resolving and providing solutions to Common User Berth Traffic Management Plan issues.
- Analyse shipping and landside data including statement of facts to provide recommendations on operational efficiency and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate post vessel debriefs with stevedores and transport operators.
- Arrange the allocation, inspection, cleaning, maintenance and charging for the use by stevedores of Inner Harbour Common User Berth facilities, in accordance with agreed terms and conditions.

Essential Criteria

- Significant experience and demonstrated success in a commercial port including experience in business management and logistics.
- Proven success in overseeing operations within port and/or marine operations.
- Knowledge of wharf operations, including infrastructure limitations, berthing operations and commercial shipping practices.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate a diverse range of cargo operations including general, project and break - bulk cargoes.
- Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to achieve outcomes through liaison and negotiation.
