About The Role
As the Head of Legal & Commercial, you will play a pivotal role in driving a relationship-oriented culture both internally and externally within the Eastern Region. Your primary responsibilities will include providing strategic management of legal and commercial function, supporting relevant regulatory compliance, overseeing disputes and litigation and contributing to regional risk management.
In this role, you will:
- Foster a relationship-driven culture by strategically managing legal and commercial issues.
- Advise on proactive strategies for managing operational claims, variations, and disputes.
- Lead the legal and commercial team in providing support for work-winning and contract formation.
- Oversee third-party due diligence and counterparty risk assessment.
- Manage workplace investigations and complaints, reporting to relevant stakeholders.
- Strategically manage regulatory investigations and safety incident responses.
- Provide timely, pragmatic, and strategic advice while upholding professional standards.
About You
We are seeking candidates with formal education with a Bachelor of Law degree and admission to legal practice preferably in an Australian east coast jurisdiction.
The ideal candidate will possess 10 to 15 years of demonstrated experience in the fields of mining or construction with a mix of private practice and inhouse experience. Technical competencies should include outstanding communication, planning, and organisational abilities, alongside proficiency in Microsoft systems.
The role necessitates effective collaboration with stakeholders and the capability to perform under pressure.
