Detailed description
We are looking for Retail Volunteers to assist us in our Hoddesdon Shop on the High Street. If you have a few hours to spare each week and would like to help out in our shop, we’d love to hear from you
This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and make a meaningful impact. Our shops play a crucial role in raising funds to support the essential services of Isabel Hospice.
As a Retail Assistant, you will support and assist the team in maximising the shop's income by ensuring the shop floor is fully stocked and properly merchandised, and customers are served efficiently.
We ask you to commit to at least one regular half-day weekly session.
Available sessions:
- AM: 9am - 1pm
- PM: 1pm - 5pm
Specific days:
- Monday: PM
- Thursday: AM
- Friday: PM
Alternative time slots can be arranged in agreement with the Shop Manager.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing the highest standard of service to customers
- Keeping the shop fully stocked and ensuring items are displayed to show them at their best
- Operating tills and taking payments
- Ensuring both stock and cash security procedures are always followed
- Contributing to keeping the shop and premises clean and tidy
- Providing support and guidance to new volunteers to help them settle into their roles
- Promoting understanding of Isabel Hospice's work and the importance of fundraising through the shop
- Raising awareness of Gift Aid among customers
- Promoting and applying the Isabel Hospice Health & Safety Policy

Am I eligible to volunteer?
We ask that volunteers:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Live within an easy commute to the area
- Are interested in volunteering for at least 6 months, for at least 3 hours per week
All volunteers are assessed individually. We value diversity and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

- Identify yourself as a volunteer during duties
All appointments are at the discretion of the management team and are subject to a one-month trial period.
