- $87,416 - $110,497 p.a | RN/M2C
- $74,831 - $102,103 p.a | RN/M1
- $91,785 - $106,330 p.a | AHP1/2
- In addition to base salary, this position attracts Superannuation, Leave Loading, and Salary Sacrificing Benefits (salary packaging). The classification RN/M may also be eligible for Zone Allowance and once off Incidental Payment (conditions apply), and Professional Development Allowance.

Note: This position is multi-classed as either a RN/M2C, RN/M1 or AHP1/2. The classification will be determined by qualifications and experience.

Site and Service
Community Mental Health Team
The Community Mental Health Teams are located at both Port Augusta and Whyalla, providing specialised one-to-one counselling, group work, care coordination and health promotional activities to promote mental, emotional, physical, and social health and wellbeing. Workers provide information, education, counselling and support to adults, families and carers whose lives are affected by mental health issues. There are also specialist youth mental health clinicians based in the region and access to specialist older persons mental health services.

AHP Support and Training
- Supervision – as per the Regional LHN Allied Health Supervision Framework

- Scholarships may be available to undertake a Certificate of Rural General Practice/Graduate Diploma of Rural Generalist Practice via the Allied Health Rural Generalist Pathway (AHRGP) Rural Generalist Program - JCU Australia
- Access to contextual Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training (specific to the region) and access to Aboriginal Liaison Officers and Aboriginal Health Practitioners
- Links with Rural and Remote Mental Health Services – for useful resources and professional support and/or Clinical Governance

As a Clinical Nurse (RN/M2C), you will deliver essential mental health nursing services across various settings, progressing from a competent to a proficient practitioner. You’ll take accountability for your practice standards while mentoring less experienced staff. The Registered Nurse (RN/M1) will be essential in delivering comprehensive, evidence-based, recovery-oriented mental health services, addressing the needs of consumers and the community. You will enhance your skills through continuous professional development while providing integrated care across community, acute, and rehabilitation settings. Using preventative, therapeutic, and evaluative approaches, you’ll engage in individual and family therapies, group programs, and health promotion initiatives. As you progress from novice to proficient practitioner, you’ll be accountable for your nursing standards and for activities delegated to others. The Allied Health Professionals (AHP1/2) – Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers – apply their clinical experience and specialised knowledge to deliver a comprehensive range of services tailored to the needs of consumers, their families and careers. Working under reduced clinical direction, they contribute to the supervision of less experienced staff and students while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. Each professional utilizes a blend of preventative, early intervention, treatment, and evaluative approaches, employing evidence-based practices, psychological assessments, individual and family therapies, group programs, and community development initiatives. Together, they play a vital role in enhancing the mental health services offered by the Local Health Network and supporting the well‑being of the community.
About You
RN/M2C
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Must hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in Mental Health practice.
RN/M1
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Be enrolled and/or willing to enrol in further postgraduate studies within Mental Health practice.
AHP1/2
Occupational Therapist
- Must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and as a regulated profession be eligible for registration as an occupational therapist in Australia.
Psychologist
- AHP1: Must hold a recognised four‑year qualification within the Psychology profession and be eligible to hold provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. For the duration of employment, the Provisional Psychologist must work toward full registration under an arrangement approved by the Board, such as a Clinical Master’s degree or a Psychology Internship and must comply with all Psychology Board requirements including those relating to clinical supervision and restrictions on practice.
- AHP2: Must hold general registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. This normally requires at least an Honours Degree in Psychology and subsequent completion of 2 years of Board approved supervision and training as a Provisional Psychologist, either by completion of an approved Psychology postgraduate degree or in a Board approved psychology internship, or an equivalent qualification as determined by the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Clinical endorsement with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or eligible and willing to participate in AHPRA Clinical Psychology Registrar Program is desirable.
Social Worker
- Must hold a recognised qualification within the Social Work profession and be eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Must have participated on ongoing professional development in line with AASW guidelines.
- AHP1: Post graduate qualifications in social work, psychotherapy, mental health, public sector management would be desirable.
- AHP2: Must be able to demonstrate AHP2 level competencies for appointment at this level.
Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)

- This is a part time vacancy, working 32 hours per fortnight and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.
