Workshop Plant Mechanic

Your new role as a workshop Plant Mechanic will report to the Workshop Supervisor in a permanent full‑time position based in Port Hedland.

The Plant Mechanic is responsible for carrying scheduled maintenance, service and repairs including diagnosing all Caterpillar machines.

Our workshop can handle everything from component and hydraulic cylinder rebuilds to large mining equipment overhauls and mid‑life maintenance. We assist all customers—from multinational companies to individual machine owners—ensuring they can return to their earthmoving commitments and fulfill their customer contract requirements.

This position can either be FIFO or Residential whichever is preferred.

Roster

- 2/1 10.5 hrs each day (inc. of 30 minutes meal break) – FIFO from Perth

- 2/2 10.5 hrs each day (inc. of 30 minutes meal break) – FIFO from Perth

- 12/9 10.5 hrs each day (inc. of 30 minutes meal break) – FIFO from Perth

- 10/4 10.5 hrs each day (inc. of 30 minutes meal break) – Residential

What You’ll Do

- Perform scheduled and daily maintenance servicing and inspections of mobile mining earthmoving and ancillary plant equipment.

- Maintain accurate lubricant records and machine hours of each equipment.

- Provide support to our Tradespersons through the maintenance process safely and efficiently.

- Report faults/defects and complete service reports using CAT Inspect.

- Operate forklift.

- Implement product improvement plan.

Skills & Experience

- Australian Drivers Licence – Light Rigid OR Medium Rigid.

- Australian recognised Heavy Mobile Plant Technology trade certificate with post‑trade experience.

- High Risk Work Licence – Forklift (FL), Dogging (DG), Rigging (RG), Working at Heights (WAH), Confined Spaces (CSE).

- Strong computer literacy with verbal and written communication skills.

- Experience in maintenance servicing of heavy equipment (mobile plant / ancillary).

- Excellent customer service and safety focused.

- Confident to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team.
