As a Distribution Technician located at Ourimbah Depot, your role is crucial in ensuring the safety, reliability, sustainability and affordability of our network assets for our valued customers. Working to the highest standards of quality, cost and time, your dedication to safety is paramount as you inspect, install, and maintain network infrastructure and electrical equipment.

From structures to cables, your expertise ensures smooth operations near live electrical apparatus. Your responsibilities extend to preparing work sites, liaising with key contacts, resolving customer complaints, interpreting technical documentation and participating in emergency restoration work.

In addition to completing Substation related tasks in and around the Central Coast, you will be assisting both Overhead and Underground crews on critical construction, maintenance and breakdown works in a wide variety of settings.

What you bring to the role

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:

- Qualified Electrician – Cert III in ESI Power Systems (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in an electrical trade role within the electricity distribution or relevant industry including experience in substation related activities.
- Electrical Safety Rules accreditation and other relevant statutory training.
- Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, designs and drawings i.e. Schematics, wiring diagrams and construction standards.
- WHS WorkCover – General Induction.
- Asbestos awareness and experience working safely with asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) related to working in substations or on the network.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of safe manual handling techniques.
- Basic skills in the use of computers and mobile devices.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with others, both written and verbal via a variety of mediums.
- Proven capability to work effectively within a team or work crew.
- Demonstrated experience in working at heights – ladders, EWP’s, scaffolding etc.
- Demonstrated experience in fault-finding, testing and use of various instruments and test equipment.
