Metal Fabricator

Overview

B&J Catalano is seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator to join our Brunswick workshop team. This full-time role is critical to supporting our operations, with responsibility for fabricating, assembling and repairing metal structures and plant equipment.

Responsibilities

- Fabricate, weld, cut and assemble structural steel and heavy-duty components.
- Perform repair, modification and refurbishment work on plant, trucks and equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Operate fabrication machinery, welding equipment and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Carry out quality inspections to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Brunswick maintenance and operations teams to meet project and fleet requirements.

Qualifications & experience

- Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience as a Metal Fabricator in a workshop or heavy industry environment.
- Relevant trade qualification in Metal Fabrication/Boilermaking (or equivalent) desired.
- Strong welding ability across MIG, TIG and Stick processes.
- Ability to read and work accurately from technical drawings.
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills and commitment to safety.
- Previous experience with civil, mining or transport equipment is highly regarded.
