Health Quality & Safety Officer - Full Time

We are offering you an exciting opportunity to join the Clinical Governance Team of the Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section (RFDSSE) as the Health Quality and Safety Officer, located in Broken Hill, NSW. Our team works within a balance of collaboration and autonomy. The Role:

The Health Quality and Safety Officer (HQSO) provides operational and project support to the Clinical Governance Team, enabling high-quality clinical care outcomes across the RFDSSE. The HQSO manages two key operational portfolios: clinical asset management and staff credentialing, and supports the Senior Health Quality and Safety Officer in activities related to audit, accreditation, consumer feedback, and incident management. The role is preferably based in Broken Hill, with the option to be located in Dubbo.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct routine clinical audit data collection and prepare preliminary reports

- Work collaboratively to optimise the consumer feedback portfolio

- Conduct initial incident triage, manage complaint processes, support investigations and prepare incident trend reports

- Own and maintain the clinical asset register for all major clinical equipment, ensuring accuracy and currency of asset information

- Coordinate biomedical servicing schedules and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manufacturer specifications

- Maintain credentialing registers and tracking systems for all clinical staff

- Liaise with credentialing bodies, medical colleges, and regulatory authorities regarding credentialing requirements and processes

- Assist in achieving and maintaining accreditation status and support ISO‑9001 certification efforts

About You:

- Demonstrated experience in healthcare system clinical governance, preferably in a multi‑disciplinary environment

- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

- High attention to detail, data accuracy, and organisational ability

- Understanding of credentialing processes and compliance requirements

- Strong project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders concurrently

- Experience with electronic health record systems

- Knowledge of NSQHS Standard and ISO 9001

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerBI)

- Healthcare qualification (diploma/degree) or demonstrated knowledge and experience in healthcare quality and safety

- Certificate in Clinical Governance from AICG (or willing to obtain within 6 months) or other demonstrated specialty education and training by another healthcare support agency such as ACHS, etc.

- Experience with incident management systems

- Understanding of quality improvement methodologies (PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma)

- Experience with clinical equipment management, asset registers, or biomedical compliance

- Experience with project management tools (e.g., SmartSheet)

- Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and information security in healthcare

- Experience working in rural or remote health services
