Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative mid-level lawyer with excellent technical, conceptual and analytical skills to work on contract opportunity for a Senior Solicitor. The role has a mix of autonomy and supervision, working with senior and junior lawyers as required. You will provide or contribute to the provision of authoritative advice to senior management and staff on a diverse range of legal, legal policy and legislation-related issues with a focus on leveraging the Division’s deep understanding of legal and legislative frameworks to provide relevant, risk-based and solutions-focused advice and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Provide or contribute to authoritative legal advice to senior management and staff on diverse legal, policy and legislation-related issues
- Work across core in-house subject areas including administrative law, litigation and dispute resolution, inquiries, corporate governance, commercial and contracts, Crown land use and development, energy law and energy projects, environmental law, First Nations self-determination reform, natural resource management and statutory interpretation
- Deliver accurate, concise, clear and authoritative legal advice in administrative law, statutory interpretation, commercial and contract matters, corporate governance, litigation and dispute resolution
- Collaborate with senior and junior lawyers, balancing autonomy and supervision
Qualifications
- Australian lawyer holding or eligible to hold an Australian practising certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria)
- Ability to deliver authoritative legal advice in core areas including administrative law, statutory interpretation, commercial and contract matters, corporate governance, litigation and dispute resolution
- Experience delivering advice in two of these areas; broader in-house or government legal practice plus well-developed experience delivering advice is highly regarded
