About the position
This teaching-focused position is designed to help deliver our initial teacher education curriculum. The successful applicant will contribute to excellence in learning and teaching across the curriculum taught by the School of Education team. Applicants must be currently enrolled as a PhD student at La Trobe University, meeting the milestones of their doctorate, and have support from their principal supervisor for applying for this position.
Our School is structured into three collaborative departments — Learning Sciences & Emerging Technologies, Professional Practice & Workforce Development, and Social Equity & Inclusion — reflecting our commitment to connecting research, teaching, and partnerships to create meaningful change in classrooms and communities.
Our programs are grounded in evidence, powered by AI, and designed to prepare educators who are human-led, digitally fluent, and ready to meet the needs of diverse learners. We are expanding access through flexible, hybrid and online delivery, strengthening professional experience partnerships, and developing innovative career pathways to address critical workforce needs, particularly in regional and disadvantaged communities.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have;
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, and current enrolment as a PhD candidate who is meeting the milestones of their PhD.
- Evidence of participation in higher level study relevant to the discipline or professional area – this position is only available to current La Trobe students and for a period not extending beyond the academic year in which the person ceases to be a student.
- Demonstrated ability to be effective in teaching and curriculum development in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, as evidenced by, for example, high results on student feedback on teaching surveys relative to their peers, or through other forms of evidence.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively, collaboratively and productively with staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Capacity to use subject administrative systems effectively, including timetabling, learning management systems, results reporting, and student record systems.
- Evidence of innovative teaching-related initiatives undertaken in the last three years that have improved the student experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a collaborative and collegial manner.
- Ability to engage with the Scholarship of Learning and teaching.
