Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a proactive and experienced Governance & Risk Coordinator to lead the development and delivery of strategic governance initiatives and enhance compliance and risk management frameworks across Council operations.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary under the QLD Local Government Industry Award ( Stream A – Level 7 (OAP) - $100,000 to $109,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) + Superannuation.
- 5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading)
- Monthly RDO (13 per year)
- Personal (Sick) Leave
- Subsidised Housing as part of your employment package
What You’ll Do
- Develop and manage governance and risk frameworks across the organisation.
- Coordinate policy reviews, internal controls, and regulatory compliance activities
- Oversee the Audit & Risk Committee and internal audit function.
- Maintain strategic and operational risk registers.
- Provide advice on legal matters, privacy, fraud prevention, and public interest disclosures.
- Ensure Council meets all relevant legislative and reporting requirements.
- Lead governance training and build a culture of accountability and integrity.

- Knowledge of local government operations and related legislation is highly desirable.
Qualifications Needed
Mandatory:
- A current Police Clearance
- Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
- Experience in governance, compliance, or risk within local government or a similar sector.
- A current and unrestricted C class driver’s licence.
- Pre-employment medical (fitness for work) may be required.
