T-Ports operates two ports and the transshipment vessel “Lucky Eyre” at Lucky Bay (Eyre Peninsula) and Wallaroo (Yorke Peninsula). About the role
The Chief Mate will assist the Master with the safe operation of the vessel. To ensure policies and procedures are carried out safely and efficiently while maintaining a high quality of standards and practices. You will be required to operate the Material Handling System and be responsible for the cargo operations on board.
- Casual ongoing position for the shipping season
- Reporting to and assisting the Master with the safe operation of the Vessel
- Responsible for safe and efficient cargo operations (loading/unloading), including supervising of the Material Handling System & personnel
- Ensure that all tasks on board are performed in accordance with State and National legislation and regulations and company policies
- Comply with the Vessel Safety Management System
- Comply with Workplace Health and Safety procedures
- Work closely with shoreside terminal personnel to ensure efficient and safe operations
- Responsible for the preparation of the vessel for various regular external inspections
- Responsible for coordinating and supervising all relevant onboard safety checks, inspections, and maintenance programs
- Any other duties requested by the Master
About You
This position is a significant key to the operational success of the Transshipment Vessel Lucky Eyre and requires a dynamic “can-do” approach.
- Minimum valid AMSA Chief Mate Unlimited CoC
- Valid AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness
- Must have Australian work rights
- AMSA Master Unlimited CoC
- Hands-on ship handling experience > 500gt
- Excellent day rate – Full employment conditions will be in accordance with the T-Ports Lucky Eyre Enterprise Agreement
- Equal time roster (4 weeks on, 4 weeks off)
- 12-hour shifts (12 hours on, 12 hours off)
- Work onboard and off vessel accommodation provided
- Interstate travel to site provided
