Role Description - Religious Education Leader 0.6 FTE

The responsibilities of the Religious Education Leader at St. Clare’s Catholic Primary School, in partnership and consultation with the Principal and the School Leadership Team, are outlined below but are not restricted to the following:

Key Focus: Lead the implementation of the Religious Education curriculum and promote the Catholic identity of the school in accordance with St Clare's Policies and Procedures.

- Promote and support the Catholic identity and ethos of the school
- Lead the implementation of the Religious Education curriculum
- Be an active member of the School Executive Leadership Team

Key Responsibilities:

- Contribute to the achievement of goals outlined in the St Clare's School Improvement Plan and Annual Action Plan
- Coordinate the sacramental program in partnership with the parish of St James the Apostle
- Coordinate school wide and cohort based liturgical celebrations
- Support staff in the planning and implementation of the Religious Education Curriculum
- Maintain own professional knowledge of contemporary practice and trends in the area of Religious Education
- Collaborate with other curriculum leaders as required
- Provide professional learning opportunities for staff
- Lead staff meetings and professional learning team meetings with a Religious Education / faith based focus
- Support teachers to achieve or maintain accreditation in the area of Religious Education
- Document school based Religious Education Profession Learning using the Teacher Accreditation Platform (TAP)
- Maintain positive relationships with the Parish of St James the Apostle and parish primary schools
- Coordinate school wide fundraising events e.g. Project Compassion and Vinnies Christmas Appeal
- Manage Sacramental and Religious Education budgets
- Attend Religious Education Network meetings
- Carry out other duties delegated by the Principal as required

Role Description: Classroom Teacher 0.4 FTE

- Work within a collaborative team to plan, deliver and assess student learning
- Deliver the curriculum in accordance with school policy, ensuring adequate planning and organisation is evident
- Maintain records of children’s progress based on continuous assessment and evaluation in accordance with school policy
- Adhere to school discipline policies and procedures
- Develop open and professional communication with parents
- Provide best practice and maintain a positive learning environment for the students
- Pursue and participate in professional learning: school based, systemic, regional and other sourced programs
- Liaise with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools staff and other support staff where appropriate

Special Requirements :

- Strong commitment to Catholic education and Catholic identity
- Willingness to be actively involved in the school and parish communities
- Passion for building strong partnerships and links between our families and school
- Accreditation to teach Religious Education, post graduate study in the area of Religious Education or Theological Studies would be an advantage
- Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development
- Ability to plan and implement engaging programs using knowledge of contemporary learning and teaching practices
- Knowledge of and a demonstrated ability to differentiate learning to meet the needs of students across a range of abilities
- Experience, or willingness to work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to work collaboratively to support and contribute to the building of a professional learning culture
- Knowledge of the AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
- Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching with an up to date Criminal Record check.
