The Opportunity

Join our team of dedicated Healthdirect Helpline General Practitioners (GPs) and play a vital role in delivering virtual GP consultations via telephone and video. Working within a small team alongside nurses and GPs, you'll provide high-quality care across all age groups and clinical presentations.

Patients are assessed by the Healthdirect Information and Advice Service nurses, and flow through to the GPs afterachieving eligibility criteria, ensuring timely and professional medical review for those in need. Within an approved scope of practice, this role aims to enhance access to general practice services.

This flexible, work-from-home opportunity allows you to extend your career while maintaining a great work-life balance. All necessary equipment and technology are provided

Work from home with full technology support

This opportunity can be part-time or full-time, however has a minimum of 0.2 FTE (8 hours per week to 37.5-hour week)

Flexible shifts: Ranging from 3 to 8 hours, between 9:30 AM – midnight (Mon-Sat) & all-day Sunday

Initial engagement: Fixed term contract to the 30th of June 2026

To work effectively in this role, you'll need:
A private home office space
This is an entirelywork from home role– so as such you will need fast, reliable internet. As part of the requirements of the role you will need to meet a minimum internet connection speedof 50Mbps download speed and an upload speed of 20Mbps. Your internet connection will need to be Cable or NBN fibre to curb/node/premise.

About You

You are a highly skilled and experienced General Practitioner with specialist registration or fellowship, driven by a passion for delivering exceptional virtual care

As a Virtual GP, you'll be comfortable consulting via audio and video while also collaborating with colleagues using digital tools such as MS Teams.

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

GPs must have a Specialist registration with AHPRA to practice in the speciality of General Practice with no conditions

Minimum 3 years' full-time experience within the last 5 years equivalent GP experience, with at least 1 year in Australian General Practice
