We have a rare opportunity available for a Carpenter Leading Hand to join our Building Asset Renewal team on the Gold Coast.
This role is ideal for a skilled tradesperson or a well-rounded 4th year apprentice ready to step into a leadership role. As a Leading Hand/Carpenter, you will support the delivery of remedial and renewal construction projects, ensuring quality workmanship, safety compliance, and team coordination across various sites.
Our Asset Renewal team works on diverse projects ranging from $500k to $10m, including cladding, podium refurbishments, concrete repairs, structural steel repairs, and bespoke high-rise repairs. No two projects are ever the same
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily site activities under the guidance of the Site Manager or Foreman.
- Execute carpentry tasks including structural repairs, timber framing, cladding, and finish work.
- Ensure compliance with WHS regulations and site safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate site records and contribute to project reporting.
- Support onboarding and mentoring of apprentices and labourers.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Participate in toolbox talks, site inspections, and incident investigations.
- Monitor and enforce SWMS compliance and direct corrective actions as needed.
Skills & Experience
- Trade qualification in Carpentry (Cert III or higher).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in commercial or remedial construction preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications (preferred, not required).
- Familiarity with QA, Safety, and Environmental systems (preferred, not required).
- Proficiency with site management tools and mobile apps (e.g., Procore, 1Breadcrumb) (preferred, not required).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
