NURSERY PERSON

We are seeking for a Nurseryperson who is responsible for the propagation, cultivation, maintenance, and care of plants, trees, shrubs, and flowers within a commercial nursery or horticultural setting. This role involves a combination of physical tasks and technical skills to ensure the healthy growth and presentation of plant stock for sale or wholesale distribution.

Task & responsibilities

- Maintain cleanliness and safety in all nursery areas

- Ensure proper labelling, storage, and display of plant stock

- Assist with loading and unloading plant deliveries and handling customer orders

- Maintain records of plant production, treatments, and inventory as required

- Follow all Workplace Health and Safety regulations and procedures

- Propagate plants using seeds, cuttings, grafting, and other horticultural techniques

- Prepare soil and planting media, and carry out potting, repotting, and transplanting tasks

- Maintain optimal plant health through irrigation, fertilising, pruning, staking, and weeding

- Identify and treat pests and diseases using environmentally appropriate techniques

- Operate and maintain horticultural machinery and tools such as potting machines, irrigation systems, and sprayers

Qualification & experience

- Relevant qualification and at least 1 year of experience in horticultural practices, plant varieties, and pest management.

- Knowledge of plant species, propagation methods, and pest/disease management

- Ability to operate nursery equipment safely and efficiently

- Work is primarily conducted outdoors or in greenhouse settings

- Requires lifting, bending, standing, and physical exertion

- Must be available to work in varying weather conditions
