Overview
We are currently recruiting a FEI Mechanical Engineer to join the Fixed Equipment Integrity (FEI) engineering team on an initial contract until 31st December 2026, reporting to the Integrity Team lead, this role will be based in Perth CBD with occasional site travel.
The Fixed Equipment Integrity Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing technical guidance and mechanical engineering support for all integrity aspects of operating pressure equipment, including piping, pressure vessels and atmospheric storage tanks, heat exchangers and pressure relief devices.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical & engineering support and guidance to M&R and wider Operations organization for pressure equipment
- Ensure FEI mechanical systems follow statutory and regulatory requirements
- Develop, install, and execute processes & procedures to ensure fixed equipment availability and reliability.
- Provide technical support as a bolted joint SME for assembly, design and troubleshooting
- Execute FEI MOCs and conduct MOC functional reviews as Mechanical Engineering SME
- Participate as a mechanical engineering SME in the RBI Expert Group process
- Assist in the development of integrity management plans, taking into consideration regulatory compliance due dates and Turnaround, Campaign and OTR equipment inspection opportunities.Specific focus will be on ‘grey zone’ items such as flexible hoses, tubing containing hydrocarbon and non-return valves.
- The FEI Mechanical Engineer is the focal point for the PRD integrity program
- Act as focal point for all FEI Fitness for Service (FFS) assessments. Conduct FFS in line with individual competence and involve internal or external SMEs as required to carry out detailed FFS assessments. Ensure FFS assessments meet regulatory requirements.
- Develop repair strategies and execute in-house for small repairs (anomaly resolution plans). Collaborate with Designs Engineering to develop repair strategies for large repairs.
- Carry out or participate in risk assessments to quantify the risk of continued operation within specific circumstances
- Support maintenance planners & schedulers to ensure work orders are accurately planned and scheduled to meet fulfill compliance requirements.
- Visit site locations as required to support development and execution activities, including Turnaround support.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience with system improvement initiatives
- Process plant or platform site experience preferred but not essential.
