Melbourne, Australia Independentschools Full time

ABOUT US

Camberwell Grammar School is an independent Anglican day school for boys from Pre-Preparatory to Year 12. We aim to give every student in our care the very best possible education in order to prepare them for life beyond school. We are a learning community which encourages staff, students, past students and parents to involve themselves fully in all aspects of school life and to identify themselves with its values; Learning, Respect, Integrity, Courage and Optimism. We are proud of the warm spirit and sense of community that characterises our school family.

Our School campus is located in the leafy inner East suburb of Canterbury, on land originally inhabited by the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, and blends period architecture with exciting contemporary design and state-of-the-art facilities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Careers Practitioner, who will engage with school wide career development programs and activities, and provide guidance and support to students in their career exploration and decision making. You will also coordinate careers education initiatives, which provide students and families with careers and general higher education advice, to inform decision-making regarding post-school destinations. You will play a critical role in helping students identify their interests, strengths, and aspirations and navigate career options.

This is a rewarding role where you have the opportunity to make a significant impact.

This is a part time (FTE 0.4) permanent position, commencing Term 1 2026, in a progressive, supportive, and well-resourced educational environment.
For the successful candidate, the part time hours can potentially be arranged over two full days or several part time days.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience working within a secondary school setting and have a track record of success in providing targeted careers counselling and support to students.

You will predominantly be working with students, families, and staff in the Middle and Senior School years. You are an expert in your field who can lead by example and model exceptional practice; making a meaningful contribution to the development of careers programs and activities for our students. You are able to build rapport with staff and students and build collaborative working relationships.

You will also have:

- Relevant career development qualifications, as endorsed by The Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA), preferably a minimum of a Graduate Certificate in Career Development.

- Current VIT registration or a Working with Children Check.

- A sound understanding of VCE subject selection and VTAC application procedures.

- Contemporary knowledge of the range of post-secondary pathways, including tertiary study options.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in working with students, staff, and families.

- Outstanding planning and organisational skills, coupled with an innovative approach.

If you are passionate about inspiring and supporting students in planning their career pathways, we would love to hear from you.

WHY JOIN CAMBERWELL GRAMMAR SCHOOL?

At Camberwell Grammar we have a vision of learning which encompasses all aspects of life – not just the intellectual, but also the social, cultural, physical and spiritual. Our programs are deliberately structured to educate the whole student – not just the mind. We hope to educate committed citizens of the future, interested and passionate about the problems facing our world and with the skills necessary to do something about them.

You will play a pivotal role in this vision.
