About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Teacher with relevant experience to join a large, dynamic team of educators and support staff at Alta-1 College.
Here's some information about us:
At Alta-1, we recognize that adverse life experiences can impact a student's sense of self-worth, motivation, and capacity for learning, making engagement in a mainstream school setting difficult.
As an independent, co-educational CARE (Curriculum and Reengagement in Education) School, Alta-1 is a Christian organization working with students from Years 7-12. We provide wraparound support to guide students on a journey of recovery through a trauma-informed approach. This approach helps students acknowledge, confront, and resolve barriers that have impacted their ability to reach their full potential.
We believe in fostering a highly relational environment where students, teachers, and staff develop meaningful connections based on trust, respect, and empathy. These relationships serve as the foundation for effective teaching and learning, enabling us to better understand and support each student's unique needs and aspirations.

If successful, you will be responsible for delivering the best possible duty of care for each student, aligned with the values and objectives of Alta-1 College.
You are a relational team builder and campus culture nurturer.
As a skilled team builder, you foster an environment conducive to student and team success. Your guidance and leadership are relied upon by your team, who emulate your interactions with staff, parents, students, and external stakeholders. You are the cornerstone of campus culture.
You are a great communicator and foster positive relationships.
Your role involves building positive relationships with stakeholders, including parents, support staff, Alta-1 leadership, and student therapeutic teams, to promote students' well-being and success. Effective and timely communication, especially with parents, is essential, and your emotional and social intelligence will be valuable in handling challenging conversations positively.
You are an innovative and trauma-informed educator.
Your adaptability allows you to create personalized learning pathways for students, often diverging from traditional structures, prioritizing real-world engagement over formal education. Your innovative thinking and passion for student success bring creativity into every interaction.
You are an organizational and administrative specialist.
Attention to detail is vital for accurately documenting student activities, including mandatory, regulatory, and optional tasks. Your meticulous records support securing NCCD (Nationally Consistent Collection of Data for Students with Disability) funding, sustaining Alta-1's initiatives. You will manage various resources, plan future activities, and navigate learning management systems while guiding students on their recovery journey.
Why you should choose us:
We offer attractive salary packaging options and professional development within a supportive, friendly Christian environment.
At Alta-1, our staff believe each student is created with unique strengths and abilities, and we work collaboratively to nurture these. Every day offers opportunities to make a positive impact on students' lives and futures.
