Inclusive Practices Senior Teacher in NT Community, 2026

A bilingual school committed to integrating Warlpiri and English literacy is seeking an Inclusive Practices leader for 2026. Coordinate the implementation of curriculum, behaviour and wellbeing programs to lead teaching and support staff to deliver differentiated instruction within a cross-cultural school environment.

Located approximately 3 hours from Alice Springs on a sealed road, the school has approximately 220 students ranging from birth to Year 12, with over 95% speaking Warlpiri as their first language. It embraces a Two-Way approach to education, delivering bilingual teaching and learning in both Warlpiri and English. Central to its curriculum is the Warlpiri Theme Cycle, which integrates the NT Indigenous Languages and Culture Curriculum with the Australian Curriculum.

As a Senior Teacher-Inclusive Practices, you will be responsible for maximising student outcomes through the leadership and management of teaching and support staff of the school, and leadership of inclusive teaching practices for students aged birth to Year 12. The school is hoping to strengthen their school approaches to curriculum and assessment, as well as to continue focusing on building the capacity of our teaching teams to design quality teaching and learning programs.

The Learning in Country Program (LinC) allows students to experience teaching and learning of language and cultural in Country with Senior Warlpiri Educators, Teachers and Elders. Utilising EAL/D strategies and trauma-informed practices is critical to building healthy and productive relationships with the students.

As part of the school community, you will participate in a week-long camp in August, an event that brings together students, teachers, and the broader community. This is an ongoing full-time position. The school is also seeking a Year 1/2 Classroom Teacher, Secondary Girls' Teacher, Performing Arts Specialist Classroom Teacher and Literacy Production Supervisor (admin position).

Responsibilities

- Lead teaching and support staff to deliver differentiated instruction in accordance with department and school policies, including an inclusive approach to teaching students with additional learning needs.
- Co-ordinate the implementation of curriculum, behaviour and wellbeing programs within a team to ensure consistency of approach and delivery across the school.
- Address the educational, wellbeing and behaviour needs of a diverse group of students through appropriate, thoughtful and culturally aware teaching and learning delivery.
- Be an effective member of the school leadership team to provide effective leadership and management in accordance with the school's strategic direction and as a member of that team be responsible for the allocation of students, staff and resources to optimise student learning outcomes.
- Co-ordinate effective communications between students, parents/carers, teachers, classroom assistants and other support staff, school management and other relevant bodies.
- Undertake a teaching load.

What You Need to Succeed

- Registered (or ability to) with TRBNT and a NT Working With Children check (Ochre Card) in addition to,
- Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent.
- Proven ability to work within a cross-cultural school environment, interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and successfully develop effective partnerships with parents and the community.
- Strong knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles of the Australian Curriculum, School Wide Positive Behaviour Support, Framework for Inclusion (2019-2029) and quality teaching and learning practices in order to improve student wellbeing and academic outcomes for students with additional learning needs.
- Proven change management, team leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- A developed ability to promote positive relationships with staff, students, parents and the community to improve student academic outcomes through effective wellbeing strategies.
- Demonstrated skills in human resource management and fiscal management as it relates to the management of a cohort of students.

Desirable

- Relevant qualification in Special Education.
