Job Description
You'll form part of a highly skilled team of Database Administrators providing support and maintenance for a large enterprise environment spanning multiple locations within Australia and overseas.
The successful candidate will use their skills to enhance the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of PostgreSQL Databases.
Responsibilities
1. Install, create, configure, upgrade, and monitor databases to ensure optimum performance.
2. Evaluate, recommend, manage, and execute upgrades and enhancements as required.
3. Provide support to application teams for incidents relating to PostgreSQL Databases.
4. Implement monitoring and health reports that help reduce and eliminate issues affecting end users.
5. Be process-driven and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
6. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical system documentation.
7. Work within an ITIL framework for all work-related activities (Change, Incident, & Problem management).
8. Ensure adherence to processes, procedures, and security requirements.
9. Participate in the team on-call roster and be part of a team roster covering 7 am – 7 pm weekdays.
Qualifications
Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues, and develop relationships to achieve the company's objectives. You will also have:
1. Relevant experience working with PostgreSQL Databases in a complex environment.
2. Experience working with PostgreSQL administration and management tools like pgAdmin and Pgpool.
3. Experience building and administrating PostgreSQL Cluster using repmgr.
4. Proven experience administering, configuring, and managing large database environments.
5. Experience in Service Management, Operations, and Disaster Recovery.
6. Experience managing backup and restoration processes.
7. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with other teams.
8. Additional experience working with Microsoft SQL databases would be ideal.
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a current NV-1 security clearance, with the ability to obtain an NV-2 clearance in the future.
