Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior System Software Tester/Integrator to join our dynamic team of Traffic Management System V&V Engineers. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.

About the Position:

The suitable candidate will have extensive experience in software-intensive systems testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices, and safety-critical techniques based on international standards (CENELEC). A strong desire to improve software quality and test efficiency is essential.

You will work within a diverse, multicultural team driven by a common goal to achieve success.

Key accountabilities:

1. Guarantee effective and efficient preparation and execution of Factory and Site Tests to verify and validate system requirements, architecture, interfaces, and operating scenarios.
2. Create test cases through in-depth technical analysis of functional and non-functional specifications.
3. Increase and improve automation of software testing supporting continuous integration environments.
4. Support coordination of system requirements management activities.
5. Contribute to issuing test and integration plans, ensuring proper implementation through strict monitoring of project activities and indicators.
6. Maintain a list of project issues, ensuring regular discussion and agreement with the Project Engineer and Project Manager.
7. Engage constructively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds to achieve high-quality outcomes.

Required skills and knowledge:

- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Systems, Software Engineering, or Information Technology.
- Rail Industry Worker card and competencies (current or eligible to obtain).
- At least 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within the rail signalling field.
- Aptitude for automated testing of integrated systems.
- Good logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-standard test artifacts.
- Aptitude for manual and automated testing of integrated systems.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development lifecycle.
- Extensive knowledge of software languages for server-side, front-end, and DevOps.
- Experience with programming/scripting languages such as Java, Python, Selenium.
- Experience with software platforms like Linux, VMware, Podman/Dockers.
- Competent with relational database technologies, e.g., MySQL, MariaDB.
- Good understanding of various network topologies.
