DutiesAs our working weekends are getting busier the role of the quartermaster is becoming increasingly needed.

The duties include cleaning and maintaining the bridge and gangway and entryways, escorting new volunteers, contractors and visitors from our gate to the ship and getting them signed in, answering simple enquiries from the public and directing them where to find more infomation.

No prior experience is needed.

The MV Cape Don is a historic ship used as a museum and training ship.The benefits include an active social volunteers base. With regular dinners, events,visits and short trips for those that are interested.You are also helping preserve and showcase one of the most historic ships in Australia.

You'll report to the officer in charge of the day as well as the head shipkeeper.

The Cape Don is overseen on a day to day basis by the shipkeeper and committee.

Suitable for

Skilled Volunteers , Travelling Volunteers , Work Experience , Young Adults, 18 - 24

Commitment

Regular - more than 6 months

Training

Safety induction, first aid, basic fire fighting plus any relating to the role.

Time required

We have no minimum requirements.If you want to volunteer One hour once a month that's welcome.Or every second weekend.

Reimbursement

Any costs as agreed to by the committee

Requirements

The ability to walk up and down stairsThe ship has 5 decks and the dining room and facilities are spread out.
