About the Role:
Visy Logistics seeks a dynamic Intermodal Optimisation Manager to lead strategic and operational improvements across our national intermodal network. This is a pivotal leadership role focused on enhancing the performance of rail and road transport operations, maximising asset utilisation, and driving scalable logistics solutions.
You’ll be responsible for driving initiatives that improve terminal flow, reduce dwell and transit times, and seamlessly integrate new customer volumes. Leveraging technology and data, you’ll boost transparency, control, and performance while working cross-functionally to lead project planning and execution with a strong operational and commercial mindset.
What You Will Do:
- Lead network optimisation projects to improve freight flow, reduce delays, and enhance service reliability.
- Develop and manage fleet deployment strategies, balancing internal and subcontractor resources to maximise asset utilisation.
- Oversee the integration of new customers and volumes, ensuring smooth onboarding with minimal disruption.
- Expand corridor access and support regulatory compliance to enable scalable growth.
- Drive resource and capacity planning aligned with volume forecasts and seasonal peaks.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Fleet, Planning, Safety, and Compliance teams.
- Support the rollout of new technologies including digital scheduling, real-time tracking, and driver-facing tools.
What You Will Bring:
- Experience in transport, logistics, or supply chain operations, with a focus on intermodal environments.
- Proven success implementing technology driven solutions in transport or supply chain settings.
- Demonstrated experience in leading operational change and project delivery within live logistics settings.
- Strong analytical skills with working knowledge of Excel to interpret data and support effective decision-making.
- Strong background in fleet planning, asset utilisation, and resource optimisation.
- Exposure to transport technology platforms (e.g., Cargowise, TMS, GPS, route optimisation).
- Ability and willingness for occasional travel interstate.
