Do you want to help disabled children and their families who may be struggling to enable them to gain independence to live their lives to their full potential? You can help us by engaging with families on our support workshops and providing support over the phone.

About Caudwell Children

Established in 2000, Caudwell Children is a national charity that works to transform the lives of disabled children and their families, enabling them to challenge the barriers they face throughout childhood by providing practical and emotional support. The Charity is going through an exciting period of growth having recently opened a new state-of-the-art facility for multi-disciplinary therapy programmes for childhood disability and research of neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism, within the grounds of Keele University. It provides a state-of-the-art base for the Charity's therapies and an environment where ground-breaking research can be undertaken, potentially changing the way some disabilities are treated, and affecting millions of people around the world. This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-moving Charity at a time when it will attract national and international attention.

What will you be doing?

- Meeting and greeting families who come to learn about support strategies and tips on many of the common difficulties associated with raising a child with disabilities or autism- Meeting Sensory needs, Language and communication, Forming relationships, Supporting positive behaviour, Autism and well-being, Change and transition, Eating and nutrition, and Sleep.
- Supporting staff with the delivery of activity sessions with parents and child
- Preparing resource packs
- Responding to telephone enquiries and booking families on.
- Sending engagement emails to schools about our workshops.

What skills would be useful?

- Approachable with good interpersonal skills
- Experience with supporting children
- A good level of written and verbal communication.
- A good level of computer literacy
- Comfortable using a telephone

Where is the role located:

At our Caudwell Children Centre on Innovation way, Keele University Campus, STS SNT.

18+

How much time are you expected to give and when:

Volunteering is flexible. This role can take place between May and September 2025. For the role to be mutually beneficial, we hope for volunteers to give 2 weeks (Monday to Friday 9am-2pm)

We can provide reasonable adjustments from the point of you applying, through recruitment, onboarding to supporting you in your volunteer role.
