Working at Shell Energy - one of Australia’s leading energy retailers - puts you at the heart of that endeavour.**Lead the change, from the frontline**Working within a 24-hour shift roster, the Senior Operator Maintainer supports continuous plant performance by executing planned and reactive maintenance, coordinating with contractors and external stakeholders, and contributing to the development of work packages and outage planning. The role requires a strong technical foundation, sound decision-making, and a proactive approach to safety and process improvement.The Operator Maintainer reports directly to the Condamine Power Station Manager.**With respect, integrity and honesty, responsibilities include:*** Provide backfill support for the Station Manager during periods of leave, including completion of monthly reporting obligations.* Coordinate the call-out roster and manage leave schedules to ensure no operational impact.* Lead weekly and monthly operational meetings to support planning, performance tracking, and issue resolution.* Participate in a 24-hour shift coverage roster to support operational and maintenance requirements.* Monitor Gas Turbine HMI systems to ensure compliance with setpoint targets and operational modes; lead investigations as required.* Monitor plant condition and lead timely responses to faults or defects in plant and equipment and rectify issues where required.* Perform or supervise maintenance activities, including oversight of contractors where applicable.* Maintain current knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental practices, procedures, and legislative requirements (e.g. Resource Consents, Electricity Regulations).* Liaise with external organisations such as Powerlink, AEMO, APA, and Shell Energy Traders to support daily operational requirements.* Plan, schedule, and document authorisations for maintenance work, ensuring compliance and traceability.* Maintain accurate and timely records of operational events, plant history, and maintenance activities; review operator data for completeness and accuracy.* Lead the identification of internal and external resourcing requirements to support operational and maintenance activities.* Lead planning and execution of routine and opportunity maintenance, plant modifications, and installations.* Compile and oversee operational and compliance reporting, ensuring data integrity and timely submission.* Engage with government departments and third-party organisations to ensure station compliance.* Lead HSSE systems and processes within scope of responsibility, including Permit to Work (PTW) and risk management controls.**What you’ll bring**Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:* Hands-on experience in operating and maintaining gas turbines and auxiliary equipment in a leadership capacity.* Proven leadership experience within a small, highly skilled operational team.* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.* Sound understanding of complex operational processes and plant systems.* Ability to encourage and recognise innovative ideas and continuous improvement initiatives.* Demonstrated experience in identifying and implementing process improvements.* Demonstrated ability to foster positive working relationships and contribute to effective teamwork.* Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.* Strong time management and personal organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.* Experienced in negotiating through challenging or high-stakes situations.* Working knowledge of budget control and budget development principles.* Ability to perform under pressure while delivering commercially sound and operationally effective outcomes.* Acts as a positive role model, consistently demonstrating desired behaviours and safety leadership.Qualifications & Licenses* Electrical/Mechanical trade, With Industrial or Generation experience (I&C Qualification Desirable)* Tertiary Qualifications / Advanced Trade Qualifications* Confined space* CPR/LV Rescue* Motor vehicle license* Forklift license* HV Switching Qualification* Certificate III or IV in Generation/Operations (Desirable)* Boiler advance(Class BA) (Desirable)* Turbine Operation (Class OT) (Desirable)* Hazardous Area Qualification(Desirable)* Type B Qualification (Desirable)**Why join our team**Every day, our people bring deep expertise, true innovation and investment to help our customers - and the world - reduce their environmental footprint.
