Company Introduction:

We have an exciting opportunity available with a leading organisation in the financial services sector. They are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join their growing analytics team and play a key role in delivering advanced data-driven solutions.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives:

As a Data Scientist, you will design, develop, and deploy analytical models and data solutions to enhance business performance, operational efficiency, and customer experience.

- Developing and implementing advanced analytics and machine learning models to support fraud detection, transaction analysis, and predictive insights.

- Conducting exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimisation.

- Translating data into actionable insights through dashboards, reports, and visualisations.

- Collaborating with data engineers to build scalable data pipelines and ensure high-quality, consistent data availability.

- Working closely with product, risk, and operations teams to align analytics initiatives with strategic business goals.

- Ensuring all data handling and modelling activities comply with internal governance standards and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g. GDPR, PCI-DSS).

Required Skills/Experience:

- Proven experience as a Data Scientist within payments, financial services, or large-scale analytics environments.

- Strong proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and common data science libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, pandas, TensorFlow).

- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and big data technologies (e.g. Spark, Databricks).

- Excellent understanding of statistical modelling, machine learning, and data visualisation methods.

- Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills when engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

- Experience in natural language processing (NLP), anomaly detection, or clustering techniques.

- Familiarity with real-time analytics platforms, data lakes, or data warehouse design.

- Background in financial technology (fintech) or payment systems analytics.

- Understanding of A/B testing and data-driven product development methodologies.
