The Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) Mental Health Clinical Program is made up of a range of multidisciplinary teams providing recovery-focused clinical services to consumers. These teams include inpatient and sub-acute, community and rehabilitation teams in youth, adult and older persons’ services.

Working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Senior Clinical Psychologist is responsible for the delivery of Psychological services and expert consultancy regarding issues of psychological practice. The Senior Clinical Psychologist coordinates the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program, including triage of referrals, supervision and training of staff, group facilitation, and the provision of intensive DBT to individual consumers as required.

The Senior Clinical Psychologist is an experienced clinician who applies specialised expertise to the development, delivery and continuous improvement of quality clinical work and provides discipline-specific assessments, interventions and consultancy services to the team. The role involves collaboration with consumers, their families/carers and liaison with government and non-government organisations to assist consumers whose severity of mental disorder and/or level of disability necessitates regular review and follow-up to facilitate improved functioning and community tenure.

The Senior Clinical Psychologist is actively involved in clinical leadership within the Team and the disciplinary group and provides professional supervision to designated staff and students.

Responsibilities

- Deliver psychological services and provide expert consultancy regarding issues of psychological practice within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Coordinate the DBT program: triage referrals, supervise staff, provide training, facilitate groups, and deliver intensive DBT to individuals as required.
- Provide discipline-specific assessments, interventions and consultancy; contribute to continuous quality improvement.
- Work collaboratively with consumers, families/carers and liaise with government and non-government organisations to support regular reviews and community functioning.
- Provide clinical leadership within the team and the disciplinary group; supervise designated staff and students.

Qualifications

- Endorsement in Clinical Psychology and full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Clinical Psychology.
- Proven experience delivering Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in both individual and group settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in psychological assessment, treatment planning, and supervision within complex mental health environments.
- Eligibility for employment subject to relevant clearance and vaccination requirements.
