As a Senior Project Engineer, you will step into a pivotal technical leadership role within Delivery Projects. This is an opportunity to apply your deep engineering expertise to some of the most complex and transformative infrastructure projects in Australia. You’ll shape project specifications, oversee technical delivery, and influence outcomes across design, procurement, and construction.

Senior Project Engineers at Transgrid are trusted to manage their own projects as well as provide support across larger programs. You will mentor junior engineers, act as a point of escalation for technical challenges, and work closely with stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

A Day in the Life at Transgrid

In this role, you will be at the technical heart of multiple projects, often managing competing priorities while ensuring engineering rigour and compliance. You’ll bring people together to solve problems, find innovative solutions, and keep projects moving.

- Provide engineering leadership across complex infrastructure projects.
- Manage RFIs, specifications, IFC designs, and asset acceptance processes.
- Lead smaller projects independently while supporting larger programs.
- Collaborate across construction, procurement, and design teams.
- Ensure compliance with governance, quality, and HSE frameworks.

About You

You are a highly capable engineer who thrives in a leadership role. You’re confident in your technical expertise, but equally skilled at building relationships, influencing outcomes, and mentoring others.

- Degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
- 6–10+ years’ experience in infrastructure or energy project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of transmission lines, substations, and rotating plant.
- Proven ability to manage construction contracts and technical complexity.
- Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
