Job Description

Europcar Australia is seeking an experienced Head of Fleet Support & Maintenance to lead a critical function within our operations, ensuring operational readiness and reliability of our rental fleet.

Reporting to the Fleet Director, this full time role is responsible for all in-life vehicle activities, overseeing servicing, repairs, breakdown response and defect resolutions to ensure vehicles remain roadworthy, compliant and consistently available for rent. This role is based at our Head Office in Tullamarine, Victoria.

Some of the key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Lead and manage a central team of fleet support and maintenance staff, ensuring clear priorities, high performance, and effective day-to-day operations.

- Oversee supplier relationships across maintenance, repairs, breakdown, tyres, and recovery services, ensuring performance against SLAs and cost efficiency.

- Identify, analyse, and report on fleet maintenance trends, recurring issues, and downtime patterns to drive continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.

- Maintain strict cost control across all maintenance activities, identifying savings opportunities and avoiding unnecessary spend.

- Stay up to date with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies to ensure fleet compliance and operational readiness.

- Collaborate closely with internal teams including operations, rental branches, and fleet planning to ensure alignment and service delivery.

- Proactively manage off-road vehicles (VOR), driving fast turnaround and root-cause resolution to minimise non-operational fleet levels.

- Support the procurement and negotiation of national fleet maintenance contracts, contributing commercial insight and operational requirements.

To be considered, you should possess:

- Previous experience in fleet maintenance management

- Passionate leadership, with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop a high performing team

- Background in car rental / travel and tourism industry

- Strong strategic capability with commercial acumen

- Strong focus on continuous improvement and cost restraint

- Exceptional level of communication skills, both verbal and written

- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and under pressure to meet deadlines

- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

- Well organised and great attention to detail
