Overview

Volunteer- Walking Companion

Reporting to the Practice and Support Coordinator/Lifestyle Coordinator. This role will be based at our Residential Aged Care facility.

The volunteer function at Jewish Care exists to provide compassionate support and meaningful engagement to individuals and communities in need. Through their contributions, volunteers help foster an inclusive, respectful, and socially responsible environment aligned with Jewish Care’s values. Their involvement strengthens the organisation’s ability to deliver essential services, create positive social connections, and uphold the dignity of those they assist.

Responsibilities

- Provide compassionate support and meaningful engagement to residents in a Residential Aged Care facility.
- Assist with activities and companionship to promote social connections and emotional well-being.
- Report any concerns or incidents promptly to staff and follow safety guidelines.

Requirements / Criteria

- You don’t need special skills, just a warm heart and the desire to make a difference.
- Willingness to undergo or provide a National Criminal History Check or NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Provide two referees (non-family) who can speak to your character.
- Be reliable, compassionate, and enjoy spending time with our clients.
- Commitment to regular volunteering.

- A responsible approach to following safety guidelines.
- Promote positive and respectful relationships with residents through friendly and supportive interactions.
- An understanding and appreciation for the value of companionship and providing emotional support.
- Ability to quickly report any concerns or incidents to staff.
