The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a critical participant in the administration of justice within Western Australia, providing an independent and effective criminal prosecution service and confiscation practice.

The Legal Practice Support Branch delivers paralegal, clerical and administrative support services to State Prosecutors throughout the criminal, civil and appellate areas of the ODPP. The Branch is made up of a group of experienced managers and supervisors, and a dedicated team of paralegals and legal practice support officers.

The ODPP is seeking experienced leaders with paralegal, administrative and clerical background who have a team and customer service focus, solid communication skills, the ability to prioritise tasks and a demonstrated ability to apply and interpret legislation, policies and procedures.

We have a number of immediate permanent vacancies to fill from this process initially. Suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool. This pool will run for a period of twelve months and may be used to fill other similar permanent and fixed-term full time vacancies if they arise and subject to business needs.

About the Role

Senior Paralegal In the capacity of Senior Paralegal, you will provide essential support for the State’s most significant, important and complex criminal prosecutions and help facilitate the overall effectiveness of the criminal trials and indictment teams. By collaborating with State Prosecutors you will assist in case preparation, address legal issues, and ensure the timely progression of matters.

Your supervisory, paralegal, and administrative experience will help maintain team standards, and your commitment to a paralegal career will drive your success in this role.

- Experience in supervising and leading teams.

- Considerable experience as a paralegal in the context of this role

- Personal resilience and the ability to help others to deal with challenging and unfamiliar situations.
