The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short‑stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

Nepean Hospital is seeking an experienced and passionate Zero Suicide Initiatives Manager to lead the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of suicide prevention strategies across our hospital and community services. As part of our commitment to the Zero Suicide framework, this role plays a critical part in transforming the way our health system identifies, engages with, and supports people at risk of suicide.

You’ll oversee the operational management of Safe Haven and other teams aligned with the Towards Zero Suicide funding portfolio, as designated by the NBMLHD. In this pivotal role, you’ll also collaborate closely with the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (NBMPHN) to deliver key suicide prevention components of the Regional Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan, helping to shape a safer, more responsive mental health system for the region.

What you will bring to the role

- Tertiary qualifications in a health profession and/or equivalent experience in project management/leadership in mental health, including knowledge of suicide prevention, care and postvention.

- Knowledge and skills in lived experience workforce management and support, and in co‑production of services.

- Demonstrated excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, including capacity to build internal and external relationships to achieve strategic goals.

- Highly developed and effective management skills.

- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate strategic and business plans.

- Demonstrated skills and experience in change management, service redesign and evaluation in a complex environment.

- Demonstrated excellent written communication skills including concise, timely and accurate reports in a variety of formats including briefs, ministerial responses, reviews and performance reports.

- Current driver's licence and willingness to use it for work purposes.
