About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate/ Senior Associate with critical thinking abilities to join our team. As part of the Research & Analysis team you will be a member of a customer-facing team that structures lending solutions for corporate customers. You will work closely with customers to understand their financial needs, analyse financial data, and provide strategic recommendations. The portfolio covers a broad range of industry sectors comprising large privately-owned companies, multinational subsidiaries, and small/mid-size listed companies. Through in-depth client/industry understanding underpinned by high-quality analysis, the role helps capture valuable business opportunities and identify and effectively manage emerging risks.

You will be part of a fast-paced and dynamic working environment with many learning opportunities to develop deep knowledge of corporate finance fundamentals. You will be coaching junior analysts in the team and exercising your approval discretions on transactions.

What will your day look like?

The primary activities of the role cover:

1. Sound credit assessment including client performance evaluation, business model risk evaluation & mitigation strategies and proactive account management
2. Development of credit strategy for organic growth opportunities, new-to-bank transactions and/or deteriorating credit profiles including deal structuring and execution
3. Conducting financial modelling & analysis in tandem with client & industry research
4. Liaise with clients and Credit Risk executives on risk and financial performance related matters, including covenant compliance and risk grade review events
5. Liaise with Product Partners to appropriately implement customer solutions
6. Exercise Credit Approval Discretion on lending decisions
7. Proactive management of a well-managed portfolio
8. Mentoring and coaching team members

You will be supported by the Associate Director and Director (Research & Analysis) to support your learning and development.

What will you bring?

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have skills, knowledge and experience in the following:

1. Demonstrated financial analysis skills going beyond traditional accounting-based analysis to provide deep industry insight
2. Sound credit skills with the ability to identify key business drivers and mitigate key risks
3. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and provide actionable recommendations
4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team and manage multiple client engagements simultaneously with strong customer focus
5. Experience in customer management and broad knowledge of banking processes and procedures
6. Tertiary qualifications, preferably in Commerce, Business, Accounting or Economics
7. Sound communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills
