Through trusted experts and listener’s personal stories, we help you figure out all the big stuff in life: relationships, health, money, work and the world. We are looking for a highly experienced, talented journalist/producer to write and produce well-researched, sophisticated and comprehensive briefs that engage and inform an audience for Life Matters and other Radio National programs as required. Willingness to be trained in studio operation for live and pre-recorded interviews (panelling) is essential. You will: - Provide high level editorial and significant creative input to the Life Matters program team, assisting with the development of program design, style and philosophy. - Generate, research and produce original story ideas, interviews and panel discussions, producing your daily quota of sophisticated and comprehensive briefs in a timely manner on complex topics in social affairs and public policy, consumer affairs and cultural issues. - Provide editorial guidance and supervision to more junior staff and assist them as required with training. - Work effectively with the presenter and executive producer, provide in-studio direction live to air, and manage all inputs to the program when required. - When rostered on carry out studio direction and operation (panelling) for live and pre-recorded interviews. About You You can demonstrate highly creative leadership skills and an ability and passion to design and produce an engaging and entertaining radio program. Your editorial skills are second-to-none and you can have a nose for a great story. Your skills and experience will also include: - Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent skills, knowledge and experience. - Advanced journalistic skills, excellent news sense and advanced editorial judgement. Daily radio experience with a good network of contacts. - Advanced ability to produce sophisticated and comprehensive briefs on complex topics for longer format interviews under broad direction. - Honed leadership skills including experience mentoring and guiding team members. - Sophisticated communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with a naturally collaborative workstyle. - Excellent organisational skills and ability to work quickly and accurately. - An aptitude for creative storytelling on digital platforms that will engage and expand audiences. - Experience writing and subediting digital first copy and producing on-demand/podcast audio is highly valued. ****Please ensure you provide a covering letter addressing the Key Accountabilities and Key Capabilities in the attached Position Description What we can offer you: - 15.4% ABC Nominated Super. - Paid parental, carer's and supporting partner leave. - Salary packaging.
