The Employer & The Role
Strathavon Farming is a unique family-owned and operated farming business located just outside of Nyngan in Central New South Wales. The expansive farm predominantly cultivates wheat and canola.
They are seeking an overseer to join the team.
Responsibilities
- Tractor driving (Case IH)
- Spraying with self-propelled sprayers
- Maintaining and servicing machinery
- Harvesting using Case IH headers
- Performing general everyday farming duties
This position requires a commitment of five days per week. However, during busy periods such as harvest and sowing seasons, you may be required to work seven days a week.
You will work closely with management to safely and effectively apply chemicals using Agworld and will be expected to assess weather conditions and forecasts for safe and practical application. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring that harvest operations run smoothly to maximise yield for grain storage. This includes loading grain into trucks to ensure prompt turnaround and fulfilment of grain contracts.
As this role involves working closely with senior management, you will be expected to take on additional responsibilities when they are not on-site.

The Offer
A competitive salary package will be negotiated with the candidate based on their skills and experience. This package includes a house with a modern kitchen, utilities covered, and a work vehicle provided.
The Ideal Candidate
Candidates must have previous broadacre farming experience and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team. You should be proficient in using all farm machinery, including tractors, headers, sprayers, and trucks.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing duties
- Current driver's licence
- MC truck licence would be highly regarded
- Current Chemcert
- Strong mechanical aptitude & experience with GPS technology is essential
