- Make a genuine difference to the lives of some of Australia’s most disadvantaged children and their families

- Casual position located in Mirrabooka, WA

The Smith Family is a national children’s education charity that works with children and young people experiencing poverty to overcome their circumstances and reach their full potential by providing holistic, long-term support for their education.

About our role

We are currently seeking a casual facilitator to join our organisation. Reporting to the Programs Facilitator Manager and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, this role will work across our participating schools in Mirrabooka, WA where our ‘Learning for Life’ students are enrolled. You facilitate to the whole class, so everyone gets the benefit of these extra-curriculum programs. Programs run intermittently, as required by the participating schools.

Scheduling can fit around your other part time/casual work/study commitments. Training and resources supplied and shifts are paid at a minimum of three hours per day on the days you deliver the program.

The successful candidates may consider delivering one or more of the following programs, depending on their skills and experience and also the local participating schools’ needs:

- One hour a week for 6 weeks to assist Year 6 students transition to secondary school (Passport to Success)

- Increasing Years 4-6 and/or junior secondary students’ knowledge of the world of work, and how these relate to their own interests and strengths in 5-7 one-hour sessions (Future Seekers)

About you

It takes a special kind of person to work as a casual facilitator in our programs. The successful candidate will have:

- Demonstrated qualifications and/or experience in the delivery of training programs or classroom-based learning

- A current drivers licence, access to a reliable and insured vehicle and a willingness to travel up to one hour each way to deliver the program sessions

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with people from various backgrounds

- Highly developed organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage your time effectively

- Commitment to The Smith Family’s Facilitator Quality Standards, informed by existing frameworks including the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers

- Have or willing to obtain an employee Working With Children's Check

Benefits

- Find balance, with flexible work options

- Feel valued and appreciated, with KUDOS, our established recognition program where we share and celebrate the actions, efforts and achievements of all team members

- Feel you belong; with a supportive, diverse and inclusive team with opportunities to connect with colleagues and community

- Thrive; with support for you and your family’s mental and physical health with a complete care and safety platform with unlimited Employee Assistance

About us

The Smith Family is a national children’s education charity with a vision of a world where every child has the opportunity to change their future, no matter their circumstances.
