About the Role

The Northern Land Council (NLC) is seeking a Trust Account Disbursement Officer to support the accurate and timely processing of trust account payments.

This role sits within the Benefits Distribution Unit and focuses on the administrative and financial tasks that ensure approved distributions are made correctly and recorded securely. It involves preparing payment schedules, checking documentation, reconciling transactions, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with established procedures.

The position suits someone who is methodical, reliable, and confident working with financial data and payment systems.

About You

You’re someone who values accuracy, confidentiality, and clear processes in your work.

You will bring:

- Experience in financial administration, accounts processing, or payment reconciliation;
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy;
- Sound numeracy and record-keeping skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using financial systems;
- The ability to work carefully and confidentially within a small team; and
- A minimum Diploma in Business or a relevant qualification.

Experience with SAGE (ACCPAC) will be highly regarded.

This role contributes to the careful administration of trust funds and compliance with financial obligations under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976.

We offer:

- Base salary $76,946 per annum + 15% superannuation
- Salary packaging up to $15,900 p.a. (+ $2,650 for meals/accommodation)
- District allowance: $4,884 per annum (with dependents) or $2,678 per annum (without dependents)

The NLC’s annual close-down period runs from 22 December 2025 to 4 January 2026.
The NLC will relocate its Darwin office to a new, purpose-built facility in Berrimah in early 2026. This position will move with the team and benefit from a modern workplace with improved facilities and free onsite parking.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who can commence in this role no later than 2 December 2025.
